World Laughter Day is celebrated every year throughout the world on the first Sunday of May.

Laughter groups are organized all over and these events are geared to promote world peace, joy and good health through laughter and love.

The first WLD happened in Mumbai India in 1998, bringing together thousands of laughter yoga participants who got together for one huge laugh. In 2000, at the initiative of Jan Thygesen Poulsen from Denmark, the first World Laughter Day was help outside of India.

Celebrations are organized in public places to mark this day. Whether they are modest or huge, these activities all have the same objective: to raise awareness on the social benefits that laughing together offers, since when we’re laughing together, disputes and disagreements can’t last long. Think about it. When we laugh together, we are equals and we are TOGETHER! No power struggles, no judgments.
