How can you go on in such turmoil?

Uncertainty.

Confusion.

Tragedy.

There’s a lot of that around us right now, can you feel it too?

What’s going on in our world upsets me and breaks my heart.

I read about all these things and want to help, but I feel so helpless in the face of it all.

And I imagine you probably feel that way too…. yes?

Events beyond our control sometimes cause us to stumble along the way.

They can be scary and horrible, especially when it seems like they’re everywhere. Social media, headlines, radio, TV…

It’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel like you’re sinking.

If you feel this way, I want you to know this:

I’ll be fine.

You’ll be OK.

Everything will be OK.

Because the world has you. The world has us. WE are here.

The world needs us in all our glorious light, to help light the way, perform our miracles and fulfill our dreams.

We must take care of our hearts. Because that’s where the light comes from, the light that illuminates the shadows.

We are the keepers of our dreams. And these dreams in all of us must be manifested in the world to help it heal.

Let’s remember this when we’re afraid or uncertain.

We’re all going to remember this, me with you, and take responsibility for bringing our dreams and goals to life.

I can do it. One breath, one laugh, one smile, one heartbeat at a time. And so are you. Because we make the world a more beautiful place. One smile and one laugh at a time. Let’s sing, let’s dance, let’s smile, let’s love… let’s cultivate the JOY in our hearts.

Let’s keep on being and loving this world and being the light that shines in the dark.

With huge armfuls of love, deep smiling inspirations and the knowledge that we’re all capable of miracles.

Stressed about your holiday preparations?

I dare you!

A few months ago, I had the joy of teaching laughter yoga to a wonderful group of a few people who became certified teachers.

During the training, I mentioned that the more we pay attention to what’s laughing around us, the more we SEE opportunities to laugh more every day.

On my return, I had an appointment with a “caregiver”. I can’t tell you what kind of treatment she offers, as I can’t remember the name. I do know, however, that it looks like physiotherapy combined with something else – reiki and massage…

Anyway, she started working on my feet, then worked her way up to my legs. And that’s when I started laughing! Really loud and hearty – I couldn’t stop! She applied pressure to my legs and did it with a certain rhythm…

You guessed it! OUR joyful laughter yoga mantra: HO HO HA HA HA!

I laughed, which made him stop moving. I had to explain to her why I was laughing! She, to keep the rhythm of what she was doing while doing the movement, was mentally telling herself something completely different. You know what I realized at that moment, as I was lying on my stomach receiving an energy treatment? Well, I had a revelation. Nothing less!

You know the movie with the handsome Kevin Costner and the baseball players coming out of his cornfield? Costner heard a voice whispering, “If you build it, they will come”…

So I’m telling you (I can whisper in your ear too HAHA!), if you ask for it, it will come to you! Laughter and joy come to you when you pay attention and ask for it.

Ok.

This is my challenge to you.

Pay attention to everything in your path. See what may be invisible to many, but is so right there in front of your eyes!

See the photo I chose for this column? I took it while crossing a busy intersection in Montreal. No one seemed to notice it, but I DID! And it made me happy.

Are you up to the challenge? Look around you. Listen carefully. Feel passionately…

You’re going to SEE, FEEL and HEAR lots of happy, joyful things all around you… and within you.

And it’s all true! HAHA!

Try to smile

You know what I like to do when I’m driving in “heavy” traffic and feel tense? I like to smile.

It’s magical!

Whenever I feel I’m getting impatient or angry, I smile. I may do it mechanically at first, but it’s still a smile.

Simply by smiling, here’s what I’ve observed:

  • I can’t go on being angry when I’ve been smiling for 10 seconds. My brain can’t let me continue to feel this emotion when I smile;
  • I can let other drivers pass me, cut me off or squeeze in front of my car because I feel more open and tolerant;
  • I can even laugh (note that this laugh can sometimes resemble the “wicked wizard’s laugh” at first!).

And finally, most of the time

  • I’m starting to relax… which is a really nice side effect, I’m sure you’ll agree!

So folks, my two cents worth of advice to you is this: SOURCE MORE!

From the moment you get up in the morning, SMILE! And from the moment you start your car, smile! And even when you’re just smiling, you’ll feel better, the people around you will feel better, and you’ll be more tolerant of everything!

And that’s the truth HAHA!

P.S. How do you like me as Linda “Simpson”? It makes me smile!
